Aardvark executes hundreds of marketing events across the country each week utilizing a large and diverse set of custom show vehicles, each designed to embody our customer’s brand and effectively achieve their objectives. These show vehicles are created by our Production Team which leverages both internal and external resources to design and build beautiful, reliable and cost-effective mobile brand experiences that accomplish our customer’s mission.

Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned, energetic, and hands-on Director of Production who can oversee the building and customization of our tour vehicles, oversee the organization, care and maintenance of our entire facility, while simultaneously creating an efficient work environment that improves business performance and optimizes staff productivity. Duties for the Director of Production will include managing the design, customization and build out of tour vehicles, ensure compliance with DOT regulations among the production staff, direct all Warehouse activities and upkeep, implement process policies and procedures, identify, onboard and manage new vendors and contractors, and manage related budgets.

The ideal candidate for this role should be highly motivated, possess an “of service” mentality, possess highly developed communication skills, Lean (5S) level organizational skills, broad knowledge of business functions, and project management experience. The Director of Production must understand the technical aspects of the vehicles and property management, and be able to support day to day business operations, ensure efficient operation of facilities, mitigate risk, and ensure that the team meets the needs of clients and staff.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Building -  Build and lead the production team including staff hiring, training, coaching and overall personnel development to ensure that the production group works as an effective, efficient and harmonious unit to deliver on our customer’s vehicle expectations
  • Continuous Improvement - Cultivate a culture and environment of improved Quality, Speed, and Cost
  • Product Development- Partner with the sales and tour operations teams to translate the customer’s vision to vehicle design and buildout that delivers a superior band experience while simultaneously meeting DOT standards to function reliably and efficiently in the real world
  • Job Costing - diligently build costs of materials, labor, and overhead for specific jobs
  • Project Management - Manage multiple projects with the ability to meet timeline and budget requirements
  • Vendor Management - Identify, onboard, grow, and maintain vendor relationships to ensure sufficient capacity and high level of customer satisfaction
  • Budgeting - Own and manage budgets effectively
  • Facility Management - Take ownership of the overall facility -  safety, organization, cleanliness, maintenance & repair
  • Fleet Management - Keep Vehicles in excellent condition at all times. Manage the process of the troubleshooting of remote mechanical issues in the field, source local repair, negotiate rates and ensure expeditious repair
  • DOT Compliance - Ensure DOT compliance throughout production staff & drivers. Stay up to date with any changes to regulations

 

 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 8 years of full time work experience and strong record of success in a team leadership role - experience in vehicle customization, experiential marketing and/or trade show space strongly preferred 
  • Ability to effectively manage a project and budget with a record of success 
  • Strong negotiating skills and track record of success 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • High level of integrity, resourcefulness, adaptability, energy and tenacity
  • Ability to use Google Suite platform
  • Lean Manufacturing Background - Understand Lean / Six Sigma objectives preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Strong mechanical acumen - vehicle-based strongly preferred
