The Fleet Manager is accountable for managing and maintaining Aardvark's entire fleet of vehicles and generators - both while on tour and in storage.  The Fleet Manager will employ innovative, state of the art systems, processes and data tracking to balance the demands of safety, fleet readiness, and budget management.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Establish the Fleet Manager position to become a highly valued and essential member of the team by providing broad expertise, guidance and input on all vehicle matters for a highly varied and growing national fleet operating year round in markets across the US and Canada
  • Manage a best-in-class Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise in-market and oversee/manage quick and efficient repair to minimize impact to the program
  • Identify and develop relationships with preferred maintenance providers in key markets across the country to ensure fleet vehicles receive the required maintenance and repair at a reasonable cost
  • Become a key resource to Program Managers and drivers by providing subject matter expertise and assistance with mechanical & breakdown issues encountered in the field. Be on call 24/7 to troubleshoot unforeseen emergency issues efficiently and effectively
  • Conduct all vehicle training with drivers specific to the safe operation and maintenance of the vehicle
  • Assist sales, tour operations and production in choosing the proper vehicles for each program. For example, specing the right tow vehicle for a specific trailer
  • Responsible for all vehicle insurance, registration, DOT, IRP & IFTA compliance and reporting
  • Track total cost of ownership (TCO), to determine vehicle performance vs expectation for purposes of vehicle selection. Create and analyze vehicle cost and exception reports.
  • Develop and administer all accident related protocols
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all vehicle related information in the company's vehicle management system
  • Utilize system data to track fuel and repair expense parameters, trends, and identify irregularities
  • Manage vehicle warranties to guarantee lower AEL expense and be aware of all relevant manufacturer recalls and alerts
  • Purchase and sell all vehicles and best price possible for Aardvark
  • Manage all vendor relationships relevant to this department and ensure best pricing and service is attained at all times
  • Plan and manage annual budget to deliver on target financial goals and efficiencies
  • Recruit, hire and train staff and manage staff as needed. Provide coaching, mentoring and correction as required
  • Develop a metrics report card for key performance indicators that provides a view into the effectiveness and efficiency of your area - and reporting schedule that enables you, senior management and other key stakeholders to have visibility into the functioning of your accountabilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety standards

Experience / Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Five to seven years Fleet Management related experience
  • Facilities & warehouse management experience
  • Strong competence in the use of technology, including apps, online systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and Google apps - strong spreadsheet skills
  • Highly skilled at utilizing technology, apps and online systems
  • Available 24/7 to respond to fleet vehicle issues in the field
